Where dogs and people come together to play!

AKC Judge Lavonda Herring

I

started judging agility for the AKC over 23 years ago.    When the AKC agility program started I knew right away it was something in which I wanted to be involved.  I enjoy watching all the many different breeds in agility and am continually amazed at the willingness and athleticism of the dogs as well as the incredible teamwork between the handler and the dog.  Standing in the middle of the ring watching the handlers and their dogs having fun is a great job.

I have done national events in the past.  In 2020 I will have the pleasure of judging the Westminster dog show.

I have titled dogs in conformation (American and German), obedience, agility, flyball, Schutzhund and most recently in barn hunt and lure coursing.   Living near New York City my dogs have been featured in commercials, music videos and magazines.  I have handled dogs in all of the jump heights in agility except 8”.  I am currently running a rescued Australian Cattle Dog and a cute little Staffordshire Bull Terrier.   Being a competitor keeps me in touch with what is going on in the ring which is important and helpful, both as a judge, competitor and instructor.
