Where dogs and people come together to play!

AKC Judge Debby Wheeler

D

ebby Wheeler is from Escondido, California (Northeast San Diego) and has had the honor of judging in Hawaii twice before. Debby lives with her 17-year-old son, Robby, and 3 wonderful dogs. Her love for dogs was cultivated from a young age being raised with her family’s various dogs and playing at dog shows with her German Shepherd and Boston Terrier. Her first performance dog was her Italian Greyhound, MartiMcfly, who she brought into her life during college as a running partner. Marti soon showed she was capable of so much more after competing in Conformation and Obedience, then Flyball and Frisbee. But it wasn’t until 1998, when Debby happened upon a local NADAC Agility trial, that she would be forever hooked.

ebby has competed in Agility with 4 Italian Greyhounds, a Pointer, Portuguese Water Dog, and currently her Vizsla and Smooth Fox Terrier. Debby has competed and made finals several times at the AKC Agility Invitational, has earned 7 MACHs and 2 PACHs on her various dogs, and enjoys competing in other venues (USDAA & UKI), as well as other sports such as Hunt Tests, Lure Coursing, Scent Work, Dock Diving, Rally, and Trick Dog.

Debby has been in the AKC judging program since 2005 and spent 4 years as an AKC Field Representative. When she is not judging, or doing the various dog sports, she enjoys hiking with her son and traveling the continent.

She looks forward to spending the weekend with all the wonderful Hawaiian Teams and sends the best of luck to all of you!
